Ron T. Mitra
Ron T. Mitra is a financial advisor with William Blair & Company’s private client advisors group. He joins the firm from Morgan Stanley where he most recently served as an executive director in fixed income institutional sales. At Morgan Stanley, Ron was responsible for developing and maintaining the relationship between the firm and some of the largest financial institutions in the United States, including mutual funds, banks, and insurance companies.
Ron began his career as a strategic planning analyst before moving to Lehman Brothers where he developed an expertise in the fixed income markets while focusing on U.S. treasury bonds, corporate bonds, and derivatives. With more than 15 years of experience, Ron has a strong understanding of how the financial markets function and invaluable insight into income generation. One of Ron’s areas of specialization is in assessing risk (default risk, extreme equity market declines, concentration risk, and interest rate risk) and recommending ways to hedge these risks.
Ron’s client service model is based on a mutual understanding of objectives and expectations. Teaming up with William Blair’s Wealth Planning Services, Ron first listens to his clients to identify their needs, level of risk tolerance, and time horizon to develop a comprehensive financial plan. Using William Blair’s proprietary equity research, Ron constructs and manages balanced portfolios that reflect his clients’ goals and objectives.
Ron received his A.B. with a concentration in economics, cum laude, from Harvard University, and his M.B.A. with honors from The University of Chicago. One of four children, Ron grew up in Springfield, Illinois, where he met his wife Tracy. Now, a father of four boys, he lives with his family in Darien, Illinois, where he is active coaching his sons’ sports activities.
